Story Behind the Art:
Sukartini is proud of her Indonesian heritage. ‘My mother instilled in me the values of a ‘Balinese woman,’ including how to prepare temple offerings. I took courses in other traditional art forms, including batik and ceramic, but my favorite is silver. I took an apprenticeship with a silversmith and now I work along many designers in an effort to promote Bali’s beauty in our own way, with both traditional and modern styles.’
